Alien Covenant Review
I think Ridley Scott wanted to give the fans what they wanted. I loved Prometheus, however fans said there was to much explanation, dead time, holes, and not enough horror and gore. Alien Covenant was slow in the beginning I did not like the fact that the initial captain died in the beginning. It took at least 40 minutes to get to the planet, but perhaps they wanted to balance the gore. The Walter/David characters seem to have knowledge in their programming about the Aliens exhibited from the way Walter reacted when he first saw the Xenomorph. This does explain the reason Ripley blamed the Walter robot on her ship for all of the problems, it does make sense that a robot like David would advance the evolution of this creature. The movie shows flashbacks about what happened with Shaw and David, which I did not like as well. Billy Cudruf was the most horrible captain in Sci Fi history, this had to have been intentional so Daniels could emerge. Of course he would be too slow for David. Much of the plot was predictable because it followed the same pattern set up 30 years ago. Hopefully they will explain, the differences in the Xenomorphs next time. Fans were hard on this movie on YouTube, I guess I would be too if I feel like I wasted 10 dollars on it. I loved this Daniels character as a heroine. The other cast members were horrible. It was not that bad that I don't want to see the next installment. I think Ripley succeeded with making the Walter/ David character a villain that rivaled that of some of the best villains of all time. David survives.
